Very often I go to Panji in the north of Bali because a good friend of mine lives in that area.
One sunny day I found this place with a wonderfully happy family. I was touched by the aura of happiness of the mother, the father and the two children and I asked permission to make a painting of them at their home. They were a bit surprised because they said everything looked very cheap and dirty, but I said, “No, this place is a very happy place because you are all very happy here and I can feel that, which is why I would like to make a painting here and simply catch the atmosphere”.
They looked at each other and presented me with big smiles but didn't understand what I saw and felt, although I was made to feel welcome and started painting, I spent six or seven hours with this family. Of course as you can see, I first made a drawing and then I started the painting that I finished it at home. I must say, I am very happy with the result and happy is the right title for this painting.
